Ingredients

For the Crumble Base + Topping

  • 1 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 ½ cups old fashioned oats
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

For the Apple Filling

  • 4 cups diced apples Honeycrisp, Gala, or Fuji
  • cup brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp nutmeg
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch

Instructions

  • Line a 9×13 baking dish with parchment. Preheat oven to 350°F.

Make the Crumble Mixture

  • In a large bowl, mix melted butter, brown sugar, flour, oats, cinnamon, salt, and vanilla. It should look like soft, sandy crumble.
  • Press half the mixture firmly into the bottom of the pan.

Make the Apple Filling

  • In another bowl, toss apples with brown sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cornstarch.
  • Spread the apple mixture evenly over the crust.
  • Sprinkle the remaining crumble mixture over the apples.
  • Bake for 40–45 minutes, until golden and bubbling at the edges.
